TELLING TONGUES: STORIES FROM THE ORAL CAVITY
Neli Gontier, BSc., RDH., Cert. Ad. Ed

Neli Gontier is a Registered Dental Hygienist with more than 25 years of experience in the dental, healthcare, academic and corporate sectors.  She has worked as a clinician, educator, practice management consultant, keynote speaker, and corporate manager.  Neli facilitates adult learning as an Education & Training Specialist, corporate trainer and key opinion leader for several national and international organizations. As well, she provides onsite training to health care clinics, speaks at society meetings and conferences, has been the expert speaker for numerous webinars, and has written and produced many in-person and online continuing education programs.  Neli has been contracted to write several books which have been recently published, some of them on the topics of neurological disorders, accessibility, and caregiving.  She hopes to inspire colleagues and others to improve their practice standards and address the needs of a society that is aging and lives with chronic health issues.

Dr. Valentin Dabuleanu, BSc, DDS., MSc, Dip. Perio. FRCD (C)

Dr. Valentin Dabuleanu maintains a private practice in Toronto limited to periodontics and implant surgery, combined with Dr. Mary Dabuleanu, Endodontist, and Dr. Natoosha Nargaski, Orthodontist and alongside the family practices of Dr. Tudor Dabuleanu and Dr. Emilia Nicola, General Dentists. Dr. Dubuleanu is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in Periodontology. He obtained his DDS from the University of Toronto in 2010 and subsequently completed a general practice residency at Vancouver General Hospital. He completed his MSc degree and specialty training in Periodontology at the University of British Columbia in 2014.

Dean Swift, BSc. B.E. Ed FADM Cert. Tox

Dean Swift is a Development Biochemist and Educator with special interests in microbiology, biofilms, biomaterials, and toxicology. He has strategically developed and/or clinically nurtured over 130 medical-dental-personal care products to market for more than a dozen companies. At Micrylium, his projects include the development of antimicrobials, periodontal diagnostics, acne creams, and diabetic toothpastes.
Outside of Micrylium, he is a member of Innovators Alliance, American Society for Microbiology, Fellow of the Academy of Dental Materials, APIC and the Organization for Sterilization and Asepsis Procedures (OSAP).

Dr. Saivash Hassanpour, HBSc, MSc., DDS., MSc (Perio) FRCD (C)

Dr. Hassanpour is a Board certified periodontist in North York. He has a practice exclusive to periodontics at North York Periodontal centre. Dr. Hassanpour is a clinical instructor in the graduate periodontology department at the faculty of dentistry, University of Toronto. He is currently the president of the Toronto Central Dental Society and is a general councilor for the Ontario Dental Association.

Irene Iancu, BSc, RDH., CTDP

Irene obtained her Bachelor of Political Science from Florida State University in 2005 when she realized she would be a TERRIBLE lawyer! Upon graduating with Honors from Oxford College in 2007, Irene then followed her curiosity into the various aspects of dental hygiene practice, working her way through each specialty starting in Pedo, Perio, Ortho and ultimately finding her passion connecting the effects of our systemic health to our oral health. Today, Irene Iancu is a Toronto based practicing Independent Dental Hygienist. She is a Clinical and Theoretical Dental Hygiene instructor at Oxford College, Quality Assurance Mentor and Peer Mentor with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario, Key Opinion Leader, International Speaker and Item Writer for the National Dental Hygiene Certification Board all while enrolled in the Harvard HMX program at Harvard Medical School. Irene’s goal is to change people’s lives and believes it starts with US!
